Outreach Ministries

Venice United Church of Christ and it’s members participate in many outreach Ministries. During the month of February 2008, over $10,000 was raised by the Crop Walk, Back Bay Mission Shrimp Boil and the Women’s Fellowship Rummage Sale.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters

Venice United Church of Christ members partner with BB/BS and the Venice public schools to provide mentoring for students who need extra assistance with academics. http://www.bbbssun.org

CERT (Community Emergency Response Team of Venice)

VENICE UCC is the water distribution center for the community of Venice Gardens.

Christian Children’s Fund

The Sunday school children sponsor Maria from Sierra Leone by subscribing to a monthly payment program and keeping in touch as a pen pal. www.christianchildrensfund.org

Crisis Pregnancy Center

The Women’s Fellowship provides the Center with diapers and other clothing which are given to families in need.

CROP – Church World Service

Venice UCC members raise around $3000 yearly by participating in the Venice CROP walk. www.churchworldservice.org/CROP/index.html

Habitat for Humanity

Venice UCC gives financial and occasionally physical support to the local.

Holiday Food Baskets

Venice UCC provides Thanksgiving and Easter food baskets for needy families in the surrounding community.

Laurel Civic Association

As one of our community projects VENICE UCC provides monetary support and some of our members volunteer in the after-school tutoring program.

Seminary Scholarships

From our Lithgow Scholarship fund we provide our seminary students with scholarships for up to $2000 per year. For other scholarship and educational opportunities please click HERE.

South County Food Bank

Parishioners provide food on a weekly basis and some congregational members volunteer directly with the SCFB.

VICA (Venice Interfaith Community Association)

VENICE UCC is a member of this newly formed Association by providing monetary

United Church of Christ Five for Five Offerings

Christmas Offering

Formerly the Veterans of the Cross offerings designed to assist both
Active and retired ministers and lay church workers with emergency and
sometimes continuing needs.

OCWM (Our Church’s Wider Mission)

Budgeted support of the Florida Conference and denominational mission and
programs.

Strengthen the Church

We support through special offerings to develop and strengthen the Ministry
of primarily struggling local congregations and also the God is Still Speaking
initiative.

Neighbors in Need

We provide non-budgeted financial support of ethnic and other hurting
neighbors throughout our country.

One Great Hour of Sharing

We support this big late winter relief special offering primarily for
