Sunday Worship Service
10:00 a.m.

Worship at Venice UCC is both informal and traditional.

As you enter the sanctuary you are greeted warmly and welcome to visit with friends, speak with the ushers, introduce yourself and have conversation with the other worshippers. Or, if you prefer, you are welcome to meditate quietly.

The worship service is usually a traditional liturgy of calling, confession, scripture, sermon, prayers and offering of gifts. From October to May our choir, under the direction of Barbara Quinn, offers a variety of traditional and contemporary music.

We do have many times during the year wherein we celebrate holidays and special occasions of the congregation. There are guest preachers invited to share the gospel with us. Our church is blessed with a wealth of preachers. We are especially fortunate that God has called both Rev. Don and Rev. Keran to be our primary preacher-teachers. We often hear from the many retired ministers and articulate lay-members on a variety of occasions.

During the summer months we invite a seminary student to a supervised internship. The intern pastor leads worship with preaching and administering the sacraments on many of the Sundays during June – August.

We like to think of our Sunday Celebration as the beloved community of Christ gathering for worship in a way that celebrates the life of the people who are the church. We do this by sharing announcements and invitations at the beginning of each worship service. Also, we engage in an open sharing of celebrations of people’s lives at the beginning of each worship service. We find this to be a most meaningful and lively time in worship.
